Roatan – Trip Full

Uncrowded pristine diving

Where we are diving

Roatan, in the Bay Islands of Honduras, is surrounded by the world’s second largest barrier reef that is one of the healthies in the Caribbean. Explore sloping plateaus perfect for spotting macro life, sheer walls with large soft corals and barrel sponges, wreck dives abundant with life, plus cavern systems including two of the most popular dive sites Underground and Dolphin’s Den. We’ll dive mainly on the north shore of Roatan. Dive sites are close enough that our surface intervals will be at the dive shop. Doug Junge is our trip leader.

Where we are staying

Turquoise Bay is the only dive resort located on the lush and remote northeast shore of Roatan — set on a hillside with spectacular ocean views and a protected bay. You’ll enjoy the individual and personal service, plus amenities like free wifi. When you’re not diving, relax on the private white-sand beach, enjoy a dip in the pool, or explore the beautiful waters of Roatan with a kayak or paddle board. The beach features palapas and a volleyball court. The bay is protected by a mangrove island, so it’s calm and perfect for swimming. Or simply sit back and enjoy the full waiter service at your beach chair or poolside. We recommend the house specialty rum punch.

What prior travelers say

“The diving in Roatan is gorgeous and has some of the best dive sites in the Caribbean. You’re likely to see spotted eagle rays, free swimming eels and maybe a sea horse if you’re lucky. Turquoise Bay is an excellent place to stay. It’s just far enough away from the bustling downtown area to allow you to escape to a peaceful and quiet hideaway, yet you’re only a short drive away from many attractions and restaurants. The staff is excellent, always going above and beyond.”
