My love for diving started with my dad, a Navy diver in Vietnam, teaching me how to snorkel in our swimming pool. After my first successful pool dive, I was hooked. I am a level 8 diver and my husband Joe and I both instruct for Diventures; we love sharing our passion for diving with others. My favorite sea creature is the seahorse, and my latest focus has been on digital videography and capturing the action to share with others back on land.

Celeste Buck-Heinz
Independent Open Water Instructor
I started diving in Vermont in 2012. My university offered an Open Water course and I had always been interested in the water and curious about diving. I convinced my roommate and we did it together. After spending a year in Micronesia, I decided I wanted to pursue diving professionally. I traveled to Utila, Honduras in early 2018 to do my professional training, and since then, I have taught in Utila, Montana, Maui, Michigan, and now Iowa! I love sharing my passion and excitement for diving with my students.

Dale Jensen

I started diving in 2012 and I just want to get wet, everything else is just a surface interval. When I am not diving you can find me golfing, skiing, or riding my motorcycle. As a Divemaster, I am looking forward to providing an enthusiastic and thorough teaching style to promote a positive, relaxed, and fun learning atmosphere. I enjoy the trips to warmer waters like Florida, Mexico, and Honduras. However, I will dive anywhere at any time and would be happy to go diving with you at many of our local dive sites, or even in your backyard pool!

Jeff Hynek
Independent Assistant Instructor
I was so confident about my ability and love for diving, that I actually purchased a total dive package before signing up for my first class. I showed up to the pool with every piece of dive equipment I would ever need, even had it all in a travel dive bag. That was in 2007. I never stopped taking classes and advancing my career. I became a dive professional in 2009. Now I dive with two of my kids who are certified also. My first dive in the ocean was with sharks in the Bahamas. I dove in Guam, the only place in the world where you can touch a WW1 and WW2 shipwreck at the same time. The earth is 70% water, might as well get under those waves and see what’s going on!

JoAnn Haack
Director of New Business DevelopmentIndependent Instructor Trainer
I have always been drawn to the underwater world seen in pictures and movies. Once I learned it’s possible to dive in the Midwest, I never looked back. I have been teaching diving since 2008. I left my corporate engineering job in 2016 to be in the diving industry full-time with Diventures. My favorite classes to teach include Science of Diving and the pro classes. I have progressed to Assistant Instructor Trainer with SSI, which means I can teach the teachers of diving. I have had the opportunity to experience traveling to many dive destinations. From diving in Illinois to Indonesia and Grand Cayman to Galapagos – dive travel is my passion. I love leading trips which gives me the opportunity to use diving as a way to show my guests the world – both above and below water. Come divin’ with me!

I enjoy helping people of all ages learn how to be comfortable in the water so that they can also experience all that the underwater world has to offer.

Kevin Marks
Independent Open Water Instructor
I have been swimming since a few weeks after I was born and interested in diving for about as long as the water has been wet. I actually did my first dives in a pool in 1999 but didn’t do my open water course until 2013. Since then, I’ve enjoyed the warm, salty waters of Cozumel and Roatán, the frigid freshwater of Lake Michigan, and plenty of oceans, lakes, and quarries in between. My favorite underwater activity is macro photography. I’ve been a dive pro with Diventures since September of 2019. The best thing about being a dive pro is introducing new people to the underwater environment, helping them overcome their fears, and finding that aha moment when a new skill or technique suddenly clicks.
