Extended Range
Explore further with advanced diving training, reaching uncharted depths and extended bottom times.
Starting in 2024, Diventures will offer the SSI Extended Range Program in Omaha & Colorado Springs. The XR courses allow you to extend your diving and dive a little deeper, longer or with unique equipment configurations. Enjoy extended bottom times, experience the thrill of diving deep reefs and wrecks, and explore caves.
To get started with Extended Range courses, you must have 24 dives and an Extended Range Total Diving System applicable to the training.

Recreational Sidemount Diving
Provides divers with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and comfortably dive with a single- or two-cylinder sidemount equipment configuration. Recreational sidemount diving is the starting place for all XR divers who want to use sidemount. This course consists of classroom, pool, and three open water training dives.
- Open Water Diver certification
- Own a Sidemount Extended Range total diving system
Extended Range Sidemount
The Extended Range Sidemount program trains you to dive in a sidemount configuration, and the techniques required to use multiple stage cylinders carried for decompression diving efficiently and effectively. You will earn the SSI Extended Range Sidemount certification after completing this program and can then apply that configuration to all other extended range programs.
- Open Water Diver certification
- Own a Sidemount Extended Range total diving system
Extended Range Foundations
The SSI Extended Range Foundations program provides you with an opportunity to improve your skills to a high level using Extended Range Total Diving Systems and procedures. This course is designed to improve your buoyancy, trim and propulsion techniques and give a stable platform from which to improve all of your diving. All in-water sessions are completed in our pool with no open water dives required. The emphasis on in-water training in the Foundations course results in measurable improvements.
This course will get you ready for limited decompression in the Extended Range Nitrox course!
