Baby & Toddler Swim Lessons

Looking to get your youngest comfortable in the water? Enroll your baby or toddler in swim lessons at Diventures to show them how fun the water can be and build important safety skills.

Your first swim lessons

Safety and fun for little ones

Our youngest swimmers start with our “Baby & Me” or Baby – Beginner class with a parent in the water. Safety skills are introduced first and progressively built on in subsequent sessions.

During our “Baby & Me” classes, our swim teachers alternate between each baby and parent duo to work on basic swim skills. Alternating between families allows our teachers to have a hands-on approach with one baby at a time, while the other babies practice skills alongside their parent or guardian.

Starting swimming lessons at a young age is a great way to help your child develop skills for a lifetime of confidence!

Baby – Beginner

For infants (2 months and older) to toddlers (up to 35 months)

In our “Baby & Me” or Baby – Beginner class, swimmers will have a parent alongside them. We focus on getting both baby and parent comfortable in the water. Some parents are nervous during the first lesson, so our teachers are patient and encouraging and work at your pace.

During these 30-minute classes, parents can expect to see their baby learning to float on their back, climb in and out of the water, and safely go underwater.

Most babies age out of “Baby & Me” when they reach 3 years and transition to our Level 1 – Beginner class. Some toddlers who display confidence in the water early on will graduate to our more advanced baby swim class, Baby – Independence.

Baby – Independence

For swimmers 18 months to 35 months

This is for toddlers who have graduated from our Baby – Beginner class. Parents are no longer required in the water with their little one. We focus on advancing their safety skills and learning to swim independently with windmill arms and rollover breathing.

At age 3, swimmers age up to Level 1 – Beginner or Level 1 – Advanced.

Will my child have fun taking swim lessons?

Diventures is all about safety and fun in the water. With a focus on individual swim goals, we celebrate each new achievement! The number of smiles in the pool is one of our favorite parts of teaching swim lessons.

Never fear if your child isn’t having fun at first. It can take a while to warm up to the class, teacher, and other students. We are used to helping kids with the transition into swim lessons and finding ways for them to enjoy the water, even if we have to get creative!

What if my child is afraid of the water?

No problem! Our teachers are trained to help even the most fearful swimmers. If your child is afraid, let us know! We can help your child feel confident in the pool and keep them feeling safe at all times.

Should my child eat before class?

We recommend that children refrain from eating or drinking for about an hour before class.
