With its great visibility, colorful swim-throughs, and amazing shipwrecks, it’s no wonder the Cayman Islands are known as a world-class dive destination. The diverse array of underwater attractions makes Grand Cayman a great place for beginners and advanced divers. With over 200 dive sites, you’re bound to see a few sea turtles, nurse sharks, and stingrays.
And don’t forget the infamous Amphitrite, a stunning 9-foot bronze mermaid statue, off the shore of the Resort. She serves as a popular attraction for divers and is totally Instagram-worthy!
At Sunset Divers there are numerous snorkel and scuba diving sites accessible by boat or straight from the shore. All the boats are staffed by highly experienced instructors who are on hand to share their wealth of local hints and tips. The professional guides and crew always work tirelessly to make sure your dive vacation is memorable for all the right reasons.

Drew Siewert, Advanced Open Water Diver Instructor
Drew took his first breath underwater eight years ago in Puerto Vallarta and was hooked. He has met the most amazing people over the years diving and has seen some crazy things underwater. Drew also found that it is even more exciting to teach new divers and see the excitement in their eyes after an amazing dive. He is a Level 8 diver and is looking forward to meeting all of you in Grand Cayman.

John is the happiest when he is near, in, on or underwater! Diventures Atlanta has become his second family and that family continues to grow with each and every class taught or trip taken! As for trips, he is passionate about traveling to and diving in different countries with diverse cultures! He also loves Diventures Atlanta’s pièce de résistance, the ever-loved & world-renowned trips to the Florida Keys aboard their custom passenger bus which he is privileged to drive!

Set on a coastal road about a mile south of George Town, Sunset House is well-positioned to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean Sea with the freedom to explore the island. The intimate hotel is situated on a rocky shoreline with multiple entries for diving and snorkeling . Sunset House is a hotel for divers by divers. They offer all the amenities that a water lover could need.
You can come to Sunset House to escape the world for a while, soak up the sun, sit by the pool, have unforgettable dives and enjoy fantastic food. My Bar & Sea Harvest restaurant has a spacious deck that overlooks the beautiful Caribbean Sea and has amazing views of George Town and Seven Mile Beach. You can breathe the fresh evening air under the stars, listen to the waves and watch the sunset all from Sunset House.

Know Before
You Go
Water
The water in the Cayman Islands is, for the most part, safe to drink. Two desalination plants on Grand Cayman supply good-quality purified tap water to the entire West End, including Seven Mile Beach. If you can determine that you’re drinking desalinated water, then it’s safe to drink. Just ask. Sunset House also relies on rainwater collected in cisterns, to water the lawns, plants and fill the pool. The toilets are supplied by the well at Sunset House. Please help us in trying to conserve water!
Electricity
Electricity on the Cayman Islands is 110-volt AC (60 cycles), so adapters or transformers are not required for U.S. appliances. Please turn off your television, lights, and Air Conditioning when not in use to help us conserve power!
Etiquette & Customs
You should pay attention to dress code etiquette in the Cayman Islands, as it remains a “proper” British crown colony and its residents are often conservative in dress and manners. Avoid wearing bathing suits or scanty beachwear outside of beach areas and cruise ships. Cover up in public areas, especially on the streets of George Town. Visitors will want to wear smart casual tropical resort wear at most restaurants.
Taxes
A government tourist tax of 13% is added to your hotel bill. A departure tax of CI$20 is also collected when you leave the Caymans; this tax is included in your plane fare. There is no tax on goods and services.
Drinking Laws
The legal drinking age is 18. Beer, wine, and liquor are sold at most grocery and convenience stores Monday to Saturday. It is legal to have an open container on the beach. Do not carry open containers of alcohol in your car or any public area that isn’t zoned for alcohol consumption. The police can fine you on the spot. Don’t even think about driving while intoxicated.
Free Sunset House Shuttle
Sunset House has partnered with Islandluxe to offer free shuttle service to George Town (around Bayshore Mall) twice per day in the afternoon. Leaves the hotel daily at 2pm and 4pm. Pick up is at 4:10pm and 6:10pm. Ask for information at the front desk.
Money
There is no need for visitors to exchange their US dollars into local currency. The US dollar is accepted throughout the islands. Major credit cards (with the exception of the Discover Card) and traveler’s checks are widely accepted.
