It’s never too late to make your scuba diving resolutions. New goals can enhance your diving skills, contribute to marine conservation, and send you on underwater adventures. Don’t know where to begin? Here are a few scuba resolutions to consider in 2024!
1) Join a Local Dive Club
Dive clubs are a great way to meet fellow scuba fanatics, learn all the local diving spots, rack up more dives, and just have fun! One of our favorite club events at Diventures is always underwater pumpkin carving! Every Halloween our clubs meet up for cookouts and competitive carving. Other events include monthly club meetings, social nights, and water cleanups. Learn more about our scuba club here.
2) Volunteer for Waterway Cleanup Dives
This resolution is beneficial for both the community and the health of our waterways, making it a “win-win.” Armed with mesh bags and a commitment to conservation, divers remove debris that threatens the well-being of aquatic life, ensuring our waterways remain pristine and vibrant. You can join a local cleanup effort or do one yourself! However, it is always recommended to check your local regulations on safety protocols concerning collection and disposal.
3) Take an SSI Course
What new skill or technique do you want to learn? From mastering buoyancy control to understanding marine life, there’s an SSI course to help you hit your goals.
Recently certified? Consider taking our Perfect Buoyancy course to better understand buoyancy, weight distribution, breathing techniques, fin kick styles, and streamlining. The skills learned in this course will be used throughout your journey into other specialties such as drysuit diving, wreck diving, and more.
Looking for something more challenging? Consider the Master Diver Challenge! SSI’s Master Diver rating is an elite recognition of knowledge, skills, and experience. It is the highest recreational rating awarded, and fewer than 2% of divers achieve this rating in their lifetime.
4) Take a Dive Trip Somewhere New
There is nothing like embarking on a new adventure. International dive sites offer a kaleidoscope of coral reefs, exotic marine life, and the chance to immerse oneself in diverse cultures. Local dive spots, on the other hand, provide convenient escapes with hidden treasures beneath familiar waters. Not sure what location is for you? Utilize our trip search tool to find your next destination!
5) Invest In New Dive Technology
Owning high-quality scuba gear can enhance your comfort and safety underwater. With new computers from SCUBAPRO, Shearwater, and Garmin–and a new smartphone housing from Oceanic–this could be the year you choose to invest in the latest innovation and technology!
Want to explore options with air integration, wrist mount, wireless connectivity, sonar communications or GPS? Come by the store and see the latest computers on the market.
As you embark on your first dives of the new year, don’t forget to set a few resolutions. Have other goals? We’d love to hear them! Send us a note or stop in your local Diventures.
Happy diving in 2024!
