Diventures adds another state and two new locations to its rapidly growing family of local dive centers

OMAHA, Neb. (October 19, 2022) – Omaha, Nebraska-based Diventures, the nation’s largest and fastest-growing network of swim and scuba centers, announced its latest geographic expansion with the acquisition of Nautilus Aquatics with two locations in Virginia—one in Sterling and the other in Vienna. Formerly Adventure Scuba Company and Sterling Silver Scuba, Nautilus Aquatics has a history of supporting veterans and military members. In 2008, Jason Davis and Melissa Miles purchased Nautilus Aquatics and added family focused diving programs including a robust youth program with summer camps.

“We are excited to expand into Virginia and bring the Diventures experience to the northern Virginia and metro Washington, D.C. area, as well as bringing their unique experiences to our other 15 locations across the U.S.”, said Dean Hollis, founder and owner of Diventures. “Jason and Melissa have overcome numerous challenges to bring Nautilus Aquatics to where it is today. Their focus on family diving, teaching safe divers of all ages, and a strong and growing travel program is what attracted us to them.”

“With SSI’s recent release of the new Scuba Explorers program, this is perfect timing to energize our kid programming to create new aquatic enthusiasts across all our locations. Nautilus Aquatics has a history of running successful kids’ camps, developing students into ocean lovers and safe divers with opportunities to enhance their scuba knowledge through various specialties including navigation, photography and search and recovery, and past involvement with NOAA’s Ocean Guardian program. We are eager to learn from them and continue to serve their customers with the level of expertise and trust they are used to, but with even more resources and enhanced aquatic opportunities in the future. Diventures is thrilled to welcome the Nautilus Aquatics family to our growing family of local dive shops,” continues Hollis.

“This two-location acquisition moves us into a new part of the country, allowing us to extend our current offerings and build upon the legacy of Jason and Melissa,” said William Munroe, General Manager of Diventures. “Thanks to their hard work, we have a solid foundation to elevate water safety and enjoyment to new levels through swim, scuba, travel and ocean health education. Most importantly, we look forward to serving our new friends of the Nautilus Aquatics’ customers by retaining that ‘local dive shop’ feel that they love and bringing Diventures’ safety-focused swim program, travel calendar and state-of-the-art aquatics training facilities to northern Virginia.”

“Taking my first breath underwater in 2006, I didn’t realize it then, but scuba would change my life. I am so thrilled to be where we are today,” says Melissa Miles, co-owner of Nautilus Aquatics. “Becoming part of the Diventures family allows us to continue sharing our passion of scuba, change lives, and push the industry forward in ways we have always dreamed of.”

“Joining Diventures makes sense for us, as our passions for having fun while creating educated and safe divers align and are top priority. Melissa and I are excited for the future and the opportunity to continue to support the scuba community through innovation, education and, as always, a customer-first focus. We cannot thank our customers and team of top-notch dive professionals enough for bringing Nautilus Aquatics to where it is today,” shares Jason Davis, co-owner of Nautilus Aquatics.
